The Friends of the Library

Give to the College of Charleston Libraries

At once a keeper of history and advocate of new technology, the College of Charleston Libraries are the region’s premier research institution. Your support impacts every student and faculty member, providing access to resources and services across campus and our community.

As a donor to the College Libraries, you qualify for membership in the Friends. Benefits include a membership card for borrowing privileges and on-site access to digital resources*, invitations to year-round events and Friends-only receptions, publications and recognition as a College of Charleston Foundation donor.

To learn more about how you can help the Libraries meet the needs of future students and faculty, click here or read the latest issue of the Libraries’ magazine, Discovery.

COVID-19 Update:

A Friends of the Library membership card is required to access Addlestone Library. To receive your FOL card on-site, contact Vincent Fraley at with any questions.

*Please note: FOL members can access electronic databases in the Addlestone Library computer lab. As CofC affiliate users, FOL members may use one of the 6 designated affiliate computers during hours that Addlestone Library is open to the general public. Affiliates must visit the Access & Instruction Desk each semester to have their credentials verified and have their barcodes registered with the PC Reservation system for affiliate computers. Once the affiliate is registered for the semester, the system is self-service.

Due to licensing agreements with database vendors, the Friends are unable to offer remote access to digital resources. Most resources are available on-campus in Addlestone Library only. Some licensing agreements do not permit on-campus guest access.
