Tonight at 6:00pm in the Addlestone Library Room 227 The Friends of the Library are happy to host the kick off for the Addlestone Authors’ Series with local journalist Ken Burger.  He will be discussing his latest book “Baptized in Sweet Tea” a compilation of his articles about the South from his years as a journalist for the Post and Courier.  Please encourage your students and colleagues to attend this event.

The official event description is below:
Ken Burger spent almost 40 years writing for two South Carolina newspapers, a career that included stints covering sports, business, politics, and life in the Palmetto State. While writing sports for The Post and Courier in Charleston, Burger won numerous statewide writing awards and was named one of the nation’s best sports columnists three times. He also was named S.C. Journalist of the Year in 1996. Burger topped off his journalism career by writing a popular metro column for the Charleston paper before retiring in 2011. “Baptized in Sweet Tea” is a collection of 36 newspaper columns written during Burger’s tenure at the Post and Courier. The book highlights the many attributes of growing up and living in the South, from porches to family to food and of course, sweet tea.  It also features photography by David Gentry,  retired professor of psychology at the College of Charleston. Burger will speak about his life as a Carolinian and his affinity to all things Southern.
