Introducing the New Discovery Service - College of Charleston Libraries

May 15, 2020
Spotlight, Addlestone Library, Access & Instruction Services

On June 1, 2020, the College Libraries will begin using the Alma library services platform and Primo discovery solution as part of a statewide initiative. These programs are currently used in college and research libraries around the world!

As CofC students, faculty, and staff, you will:

  • have access to all of the same resources in the the new Discovery Service,
  • but it’ll be a lot easier to find the resources you need,
  • including material from academic libraries throughout the state.

This migration is very exciting as the new Discovery Service allows you to use one search feature to find relevant books, ebooks, articles, DVDs, streaming video, and so much more with ease. The new Discovery Service will still allow you to manage your research and request circulating print books from other PASCAL (Partnership Amongst South Carolina Academic Libraries) institutions, but you’ll also be able to renew items, save searches and lists of items, and view full database results.

As a service to our library users, we will be doing Migration Mondays from now until the new Discovery Service launches and beyond. Every Monday we will answer a question to help you better understand and navigate the new Discovery Service. Stay tuned!
