Google Toolbar Search Button
- Install the Google Toolbar on your browser if you don’t already have it. http://toolbar.google.com
- Once you’ve installed the Google Toolbar enter the following URL into your web browser http://toolbar.google.com/buttons/add?url=http://www.cofc.edu/~library/webbrowser/cofclibsbutton.xml
- A pop-up window will open telling you that a new button will be installed in your Google toolbar. Click OK.
- you can search the CofC catalog directly from your Google toolbar. Just type a word in the search box and click the button on the toolbar that has the black cofc seal on it. Alternatively you can use the dropdown menu in the Google Search button (to the right of the search box) to choose the college of Charleston libraries search.
Google Homepage Gadget
- If you don’t already have a Google Personalized Homepage (iGoogle page) go to http://www.google.com/ig to create one. If you already have a gmail account you can use your info to sign into your iGoogle page.
- Once you’ve logged in, click on the “Add stuff” button near the top right of the page.
- Click “add feed or gadget ” link that is at the bottom of the left-hand column.
- type in the following URL http://library.cofc.edu/webbrowser/googlegadget.xml
- you will be asked if you’re sure you want to install the gadget, click “ok”
- now when you go to your iGoogle page, there will be a search box for the CofC library catalog.
