2.0 Use of Non-Circulating
The Libraries may designate materials in the general collections as non circulating. The following categories of materials are pertinent:
- 2.1.1 Cataloged materials which contain supplements or pocket parts
- 2.1.2 Bound classified journals.
- 2.1.3 Serials whose most recent editions are housed in reference and the earlier volumes must be readily accessible at all times for reference purposes (e.g., Supreme Court Reporter, Math Reviews).
- 2.1.4 Musical scores which are not appropriate for use in orchestral or vocal settings, but are used on a reference basis.
- 2.1.5 Sets with individual volumes which cannot easily be used alone, such as census materials and statistical sets.
The library staff recognizes that the non circulating designation is often restricting and uses it infrequently.
